Training
TRAINING
Our people are the key to our business. At NTF we are continually striving to increase job satisfaction. Training is offered at a number of levels.
New & Existing Employees
Existing employees are offered Certificate II & III in Manufactured Timber Products. This is a nationally recognized qualification and involves on the job training and assessment in such things as saw operation, timber grading and workplace health and safety.
Over the next 12 to 18 months Northside Trusses & Frames will be offering all employees the opportunity to participate in the Competitive Manufacturing program. This program assists in providing the skills to implement modern processing and manufacturing techniques required to sustain industry performance. Upon successful completion of this training program, employees will receive a nationally recognised Certificate or Diploma in Competitive Manufacturing.
We also sponsor and support employees that wish to complete Diploma and Degree based study's.

Our forklift drivers undergo annual refresher courses, truck drivers have crane and dogger licenses and annual training in load restraint. We also offer courses for employees such as Financial Mangement and have offered employees and their family the opportunity to attend first aid courses.

School Leavers
Trainees are brought into the business on a 5-10 week initial induction and introduction to the business, recognising the gap between school and a full time job in a truss plant. Trainees then are enrolled in and complete a Certificate II in Manufactured Timber Products through FITEC (Queensland not for profit Registered Training Organisation or RTO).
Recruitment from schools is also bolstered by our interface with two local high schools where we assist in conducting maths classes. We are proud to have been invovled with both Pine Rivers State High School and the Deceiption Bay State High School in presenting practical maths classes to help students take the step from school to gainful employment. This involves us conducting classes on our site based around timber and trusses. We talk about trig, volumes & lengths and as a result get a real buzz seeing these non maths theorists enjoying the concepts in a practical sense.
Builders/Customer Trade Days
From time to time we offer our customers Trade Days where we aim to inform them of the latest trends and products in the market.
